The legend

Before the first tee shot, before the trophy, and before the champion became inevitable, there was a South Carolina warning and a name that stuck.

Chapter I

Born on the road to Charleston.

The inaugural field was already pointed south — clubs packed, flights booked, the first championship still a blank scorecard — when the trip collected a roadside story that would outlast any single round.

A traffic stop. An officer whose name landed harder than the warning. Somewhere between the blue lights and the laughter that followed, the boys understood they had just found the name of the tournament they were about to invent.

Chapter II

The name, not the citation.

The Thomas Bennett Invitational does not publish tickets, plate numbers, or private identifying details. What it keeps is the spirit of the thing: a serious-enough championship with an origin story strange enough to be true.

The crest nods to badge geometry and a ticket base the way a clubhouse seal might wink at insiders — never as raw citation art, never as a punchline that upstages the golf.

Chapter III

From roadside lore to annual tradition.

Charleston 2024 made it official. Washington 2025 made it a dynasty in miniature. Savannah 2026 is the next chapter on the calendar — location and dates locked, the rest of the logistics still earning their place on the card.

Champions are ranked by handicap total. Founding members return. The jacket, the trophy, and the story all travel with the field. The officer's name travels too — refined enough for the clubhouse wall, light enough that the joke never has to work too hard.

House rule

Institutional humor, private-club volume.

TBI is allowed one permanent wink: the name itself. Everything else stays Masters-broadcast restraint — deep green, antique gold, cream paper, and results that do not need embroidery.

If you know, you know. If you are new, the leaderboard will introduce you properly.
